Description

Inventory Technician 1's work in various departments throughout Wayne County. The Inventory Technician 1 in the Department of Public Services will receive, store, inspect and issue materials, equipment, and other items from stockroom and collaborate with IPPM supervision to provide cost effective, efficient inventory management. The Inventory Technician 1 in the Wayne County Sheriff's Office is responsible for maintaining accurate inventory records, ensuring ordering, stocking, issuing supplies, along with equipment, and other items. The Inventory Technician 1 at the Wayne County Juvenile Detention Facility is responsible for ordering, stocking, and issuing materials, equipment, and other items for the Juvenile Detention Facility.


Required Tasks

  • Keep stock in order and clean storerooms.
  • Review stock items as candidates for obsolescence and deletion from inventory with Storekeepers and customer agencies.
  • Check supplies received against invoices.
  • Pack and unpack items to be stocked on shelves in stockrooms, warehouses, or storage yards.
  • Receive and count stock items and record data manually or using computer.
  • Mark stock items using identification tags, stamps, electric marking tools, or other labeling equipment.
  • Verify inventory computations by comparing them to physical counts of stock and investigate discrepancies or adjust errors.
  • Issue or distribute materials, products, parts and supplies to customers or coworkers, based on information from incoming requisitions.
  • Provide assistance or direction to other stockroom, warehouse, or storage yard workers.
  • Keep records on the use of stock or stock handling equipment.
  • Keep records of damaged stock or stock handling equipment.
  • Operate machinery, hand tools, telephone, desktop computer, electronic devices, and printer.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Experience/Educational Requirements

  • High school diploma or G.E.D.
  • Valid MI Driver's License
